kbshimmer: Essentials

Every nail polish aficionado needs a one coat black and a self leveling white cream in their arsenal and kbshimmer has just created some with all new formulas!
Since I'm sharing these two new polishes, I thought I'd also mention other essentials I use like their Mont Bleu Crystal file and logo vegan clean up brush. You can get them all at kbshimmer along with other beautiful polishes, hand care, and nail tools.




Total Eclipse
A new, one-coat black cream. The new polish features a new fan brush with curved edges for easy application.
Shown in one coat with Clearly on Top topcoat. I'm so happy to see this brush type at kbshimmer! It's my favorite shape because application is effortless with it!






White Here White Now
A new and improved white with better coverage and improved leveling over kbshimmer's original white cream. This new polish also has the fan brush that I love.
Shown in two coats with Clearly on Top topcoat. I have always struggled with white polish, even those that are said to be easy to use. This one is on the better end of white polishes I've tried. If you're used to white being a streaky clumpy mess and you're looking for something better, give this one a try! I think you'll be glad you did.






Both polishes stamp really well! I'm showing Total Eclipse stamped over White Here White now, topped with Free & Clear topcoat.






Cyrstal File & Clean Up Brush

The file is made of high quality Czech tempered glass, with the grit acid etched into the glass for a long-lasting file that can be washed and reused over and over again. The fine grit is powerful enough for shortening and reshaping nails, but not so harsh that it causes peeling or tearing. These crystal files are full-sized at 135 mm (5.3 inches) inches long and 2 mm thick. They are made by Mont Bleu and come in a black velvet sleeve. They are imprinted with the KBShimmer logo in brushed silver.

The brush has vegan, nylon bristles that are acetone resistant and ideal for detailed clean up. The aluminum barrel is silver-toned and features a secure cap to protect the bristles. The handle is rhinestone filled and printed with the kbshimmer logo.
To use, dip the bristles in acetone and swipe away polish from around the cuticles. Be sure to re-dip periodically to keep the brush clean, else the polish may transfer back onto the skin. I like to use a paper towel to wipe the brush between dipping in acetone.

Polish Pickup: Written In The Stars

The theme this month for Polish Pickup is Written In The Stars! Launch is Jan 3 at 10am Central through Jan 6, 11pm Central. A heap of fantastic brands have offerings this month, and I have some of them to share with you!




BaronessX X Marks The Spot
Rich black fluid art nail polish with large particle holographic pigment. This polish creates the spotted effect as seen in fluid nail art.

Super easy to use, I dropped a few cream colors on a mat, then dropped a couple of drops of X Marks The Spot, then I folded the mat to smoosh the polish twice and let dry. After it dried, I applied like a decal. This is the third time I've done fluid art and I'm pleased how easy it was to get these results from the BraonessX polish.






Blush Star-Crossed Lovers
Inspiration: Romeo + Juliet movie cover (1996)
A burnt orange nail polish with a shifting pink-orange-gold shimmer, holographic flakes and gold flakes.

Inspired by the astrological sign of Scorpio
A purple based multichrome with shifts of blush, silver, lime, aqua, and fuchsia.

KBShimmer I Need Space
Inspired by stunning photos of our galaxy from earth.
The polish starts as a silver slate. When you apply a magnet, a bright silver line accents a blackened-navy background. Micro and small holo glitters sparkle like the night sky with tiny, shifty blue flakes.

I used a bar magnet for the diagonal line.






KBShimmer Astronaut Ice Cream
Inspired by a bar of freeze-dried Neapolitan ice cream
The sugar scrub features three layers, each with its own scent: classic strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. Use each layer individually, or stir them to form a juicy, chocolate-covered berry scent.

Lollipop Posse Scorpio Season
A purple-based multichrome that shifts between royal purple, deep magenta, and a burnished gold, accented with pink color-shifting iridescent flakes.

Purple is my favorite color and I always have trouble deciding which shade of purple I love most. With this polish, I get both! Loving how it shifts from a blue leaning purple to red raspberry leaning violet.







Turtle Tootsie Across The Universe
A medium blue linear holo polish, with a red sparkle, gold flakies and pink/purple ucc flakies.

This royal shade of blue sparkles and shines bright like twinkling stars!





Such stellar, out of this world polishes! These brands have outdone themselves, yet again.
Each polish is shown in two coats with glossy topcoat. Formula for each was good, as I typically find with indie polishes.

BKL's Excommunicado
a brick red polish with gold iridescent flakes and a scattering of holo flakes.

So packed with flake, ya'll! Shown is two coats with topcoat.






NOL's Noise Complaint
a glowy blue holographic with bright blue metallic micro flakies and red/gold UCC flakes.

Quite eye catching, in fact, I got a compliment on my nails while wearing it! Two coats with topcoat shown.






Kathleen and Co's Baba Yaga
a dark purple with purple/blue aurora shimmer, iridescent flakes and holo microflakies.

This purple polish is everything. Bright, sparkly, has that blue shift from the flakes. So in love! I wore two coats w/topcoat for these photos.





The formulas of each of these was very easy to work with, no clumping or dragging just smooth easy application. What do you think of this month's box?

1850: Winter Luxe Collection and a Charity Polish

a soft, semi-sheer gray that glows with contrasting red to green and gold shimmer.

a burgundy-red multichrome shimmer that shifts from a burgundy base to red with gold overtones, and blue and purple at extreme angles.







Velvet
a dark and vampy mulberry cream.






Decadent
a mesmerizing collection of copper glitters that can be used alone, as a topper, or as a stunning glitter gradient over rich cream colors.

Decadent is shown sponged on the index nail, in three coats on the middle finger, two on the ring finger and one coat on the pinky.

Ram's Pride Charity Polish
a dark forest green base that is filled with holographic gold microglitters and gold flakies. This beautiful polish was custom made for the local high school based on green and gold, the school colors. The entire purchase price of this polish, less state and local taxes, will be donated to the Temple City High School Associated Student Body (ASB).

This festive shade is perfect for the holidays.





Unless otherwise noted, polishes are shown in two coats with topcoat. Formula was good and went on smoothly. I really enjoyed pairing these up and they're all beautiful on their own! Will you be picking these up?
